" A Decent Fellow "

"Finally, it is Friday", said Beaux . Going home, sit with the ole' lady Watch wrestling and racing... Maybe down a couple of cool ones. Well, Nelly said, "Ts my Friday too", Maybe we could grab some chicken build a bonfire on the beach, do a little skinny dipping and, laugh like we use to. Beaux thought for a moment. His first deli-ma. Knew she was making a valid point. Friday's mean racin ' and drinkin ' for 2 days tho'. He tole ' er he was going to help cuz with the tractor and left. Beaux left alone. Headed to the watering hole, where Earl asked, " Beaux , you ain't got that tractor working yet?" Beaux had a couple of beers, but felt real guilty about Nelly, as he knew she was right. What in the world was he doing here? Some kind of dog show was on the wrestlin ' channel. So........... Beaux stopped by their favorite chicken spot, Got the Family Box all white meat, with all dressings. Was traveling a short way down the interstate, as it was the fastest way home. When suddenly, he saw two tail lights fade into the dark shoulder, at a high speed. A decent fellow, Beaux is, he knew there was an accident, someone may be in need. Here was the second deli-ma, he had been drinkin ', and the law was going to show up. The next exit was a few hundred yards away, Beaux drove on. He parked his car on a closed gas station parking lot, got out of his car, left car running, he would be right back...right? He began searching, in the cold darkness. Voices crying, led him to the car. Two young ladies scratched up, frightened, Screaming, trapped in metal. Beaux eased them, with kind and gentle words. Assured them they would be alright, help was on the way. The fellow driving the car was ejected, nobody knew of him, and the girls were so shocked, they never asked. When the State Trooper showed up. Straight to Beaux he went, asked if he had been drinking, assuming he was the one driving, as the girls were clearly juveniles, and they had been drinking. This was the third deli-ma, if he tried to explain the Trooper would surely smell those beers. Beaux kept his mouth shut, hoped for the best. It did not happen, "Your under arrest for DUI, other charges will later Apply." was the next thing said. Beaux was in awe, he had not a clue, what in the world was going on here? Just a decent fellow, good Samaritan, his chicken getting cold, and his car was still running with the heater on, in the parking lot. Downtown in cuffs Beaux rode; Still trying to figure out, WHAT WAS GOING ON? No test were performed, two beers gone hours ago. A phone call to his Nelly, would clear it all. At the jail, Beaux asked, "May I make a phone call to my wife?" The jailer said, "sure thing, with a smile." "Oh Nelly, My Love, My Darling", Beaux said. Nelly was still disappointed, her question was, "What have you done Beaux ?" "Let me talk to the Officer in charge." Beaux handed the phone to the law, he could hear only one side of a conversation. The officer stated, "He is under arrest for contributing to the delinquency of two minor females, failure to have his vehicle under control, DUI, but the real issue here is he was driving around with the two thirteen year old girls. They had all been drinking. Beaux is in big trouble, Miss Nelly. Nelly told the officer he could die and rot in there, She was not about to get him out, if he had done such a thing. Beaux was speechless. Just a decent fellow was he, thought he was doing the right thing, helping folks, as he was the only witness. Beaux looked at the officer and asked, "Is it possible to bring the girls here, so we all can clear up this matter. There is a terrible mistake, they can clear this all up. My car is still running in the parking lot at the next exit. I just want to go home, spend the night with my wife and eat my chicken. He was just a decent fellow, wanted to be home on this Friday night. By the time he returned to his car, it had ran out of gas, and ants were on the chicken. The Tow Away Notice on the windshield became his only alibi. Nelly would surely need proof. He was still yet to explain all this to her. The law finally found the driver, he walked out on his own the next day, was given opportunity to explain things. So Beaux got out of jail, all charges were dropped. He was yet vindicated by Nelly. She had not seen him since Friday, it is now Sunday. Beaux drags his tired, dirty body to the house, walking, cause he had no money, nor gas. Paper in hand, was his alibi, a tow away note, and dismissal of all charges. Tired, confused he opened the door. His Nelly stood there with her arms open, A cold beer in hand, Racin ' was on the television, Fried Chicken was in the skillet for him. He sure was glad to be home.
